Nepeta Cat's Pajamas is a dwarf herbaceous, perennial plant with neat and tidy ball-shaped habit. Its foliage is topped by long, dark purple stems with showy spikes of indigo blue flowers and rosy purple calyces. Unlike other varieties of Catmint that only produce flowers at the top of the stems, this wonderful variety produces blooms from the ground to the tips of the stems for increased impact. Long-lasting blooms will start to appear in Spring and will flower right through to Autumn. The bright blue, slightly mint fragranced mounds work very well planted near the front of a border or add in large drifts along a walkway to create a garden space that overflows with colour. The plant may be cut back before first flowering to promote a more compact size and shear the flower spikes after flowering to encourage a second flowering. Best propagated by division in Spring or Autumns Please Note: Images are for illustrative purposes only and designed to be a representation of the item(s) being sold. Depending on seasonality, deciduous plants may be supplied in their dormant state and without leaves. Plants may also be pruned back, lower than stated heights, to encourage new growth. Characteristics: A herbaceous perennial plant with neat and tidy ball-shaped habit. Its foliage is topped by long, dark purple stems of showy spikes with indigo blue coloured, small flowers. Period of Interest: The mass of indigo blue flowering begins in May and runs through to September. Rosy purple calyxes extend the colour when blooms are past peak and will eventually die down in autumn. Water & Maintenance: Very low Maintenance and drought tolerant. Performs best in well-drained soils in full to part shade. Provide light afternoon shade in warmer areas.
