Thompson & Morgan 1 X Azalea Standard Japanese Red 2 Litre Pot 10414

Azalea flowers are a sure sign that spring is underway! With maturity, the scarlet flowers will literally smother the foliage from March to April, making a fabulous focal point in the garden.   The evergreen foliage and upright stem provide year round colour and structure, adding elegant formality to doorways, patios and borders.   Standard plants are perfect for growing in patio containers either side of a gateway or planting as a specimen plant in borders. This enchanting red Azalea japonica is supplied as a potted standard plant (a bushy, rounded head on a 45cm clear stem).   Azaleas enjoy an acidic soil. If your soil is less than ideal then simply plant it in a pot using ericaceous compost mixed with a loam based compost such as John Innes No. 3. These hardy evergreens positively thrive in those tricky shaded spots, but do require shelter from cold winds. Water with rainwater wherever possible. Trim the main head of stems lightly in June to maintain a pleasing rounded shape.   Ultimate height: 90cm. Ultimate spread: 60cm. Supplied as 1 x or 2 x standard plant in 2 Litre Nursery Pot. Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary results. Image may be included for illustration of supply, but can vary due to seasonality changes and may not be the exact variety.
